Masters Swimming Victoria (MSV) has introduced Multi-Class capability at MSV State Championships. At this early stage, the Relay Championships and relay events within a Championship meet, do not have Multi-Class capability.
The pathway for a swimmer to obtain a classification through the Swimming Victoria process is both complex and invasive for the individual. So MSV has introduced a simple process for a swimmer intending to swim Multi-Class at Masters Swimming Victoria Championship events (ONLY) to obtain a Masters Multi-Class classification.
Consequently, Masters Swimming Victoria in conjunction with Swimming Victoria have an application form to enable Masters ONLYswimmers to obtain a classification, based upon a review of medical information provided by the swimmer. Swimmers who already have an existing classification i.e. through SAL/SV, Special Olympics, Downs Syndrome or Paralympics can register that classification with Masters Swimming Victoria through the same process.
- This application is valid only for 12 months
o the Masters Swimming Season – January to December.
o Where a swimmer registers from September onwards, the classification registration will be valid until December the following year, as per the MSA 16-month registration process.
- After expiry, the swimmer will need to re-apply for a continuance of their classification.
- Swimmers whose classification registration has expired will not be allowed to enter as a Multi-Class entrant at a State Meet, instead they will be entered as an able-bodied swimmer.
- This application only applies to Masters swimmers. If a swimmer desires to compete in other Disabled or Multi-Class competitions outside of Masters, they will need to follow the SAL/SV classification pathway.
Swimmers who already have an existing classification i.e. through SAL/SV, Special Olympics, Downs Syndrome or Paralympics can register that classification with Masters Swimming Victoria. Those swimmers will need to complete the Application form and attach proof of their existing classification and post or e-mail it to:

should allow a minimum of 3 weeks.
